Father's Day
Updated: Jun 29, 2021

Father’s Day is just around the corner. Watches, sporting goods, and ties are all typical gifts we purchase to show our appreciation for our dad. But wouldn’t it be more fun and memorable for your dad if you also show your gratitude in new, meaningful ways? Here are 3 other methods you can use to show how much you care about your dad:
1. Show Your Gratitude
Dads may have a tough and stoic demeanor, but that doesn’t mean they don’t want to feel appreciated and loved. From your heart, genuinely express to him the ways he has impacted your life in a positive way. Whether it’s driving you to school or playing catch after a long day of work, express your gratefulness for all the moments he shows he cares. Dads may look like they just work to provide, but they do make sure to offer us their best in doing so.
2. Expressing “I Love You”
This may sound weird and awkward to some of us, seeing that society can sometimes portray outward affection and gratitude as being unnatural. But with the best of your ability, practice verbally saying “I love you” to your dad! Don’t worry if he doesn’t know how to respond – he might not be used to hearing others express their appreciation to him!
3. Pray with Him
Pray with and for your dad. Thank God for him and what he means to you, and pray for God’s blessings on his life in the years ahead. Ask him if there is anything in particular you can pray for. Most dads deal with a lot of responsibilities and typically do not have many opportunities to talk about their feelings. This prayer time can be an opportunity for you to grow closer with your earthly and heavenly Father.
