This Live EP is made up of songs that are so close to my heart. They are a mix of conversations with myself and with God, musings written during the pandemic, and even a little melody that came to me while bopping on the sidewalk one day. I recorded them live-off-the-floor at an empty music venue during the 2nd wave of the pandemic in Toronto back in December 2020, and it goes along with a 25-minute long concert film in which I'm singing and playing the songs, surrounded by a sea of glowing lanterns. I struggled (and continue to struggle) with a lot of fear, doubt, perfectionism, and imposter syndrome in creating this and even now in sharing it, but I'm so grateful for what this EP + film represents: an honest sharing of my heart + soul, a baby step of faith that was prepared long ago for me to take, and a beautiful milestone I'm excited to look back on and thank God for as I go forth and continue to create. In sharing these songs in their most raw form, I hope that whoever listens to and experiences this project can be drawn closer to the Great Light that "Witness, Testimony" refers to in its final lines: "I have seen the Light / and I have tried to fight it / But You are my delight / and oh, I can't deny it".
